This single features two songs, which fuse American Soul music with Turkish traditional and pop musics, that were composed by Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol in early 1997 as part of a larger Turkish pop music album project. That album was recorded in the Spring of 1997 however, it was never released. During the Summer of 2013 Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol found the original ADAT tapes in the basement of his parents’ house and transferred these two pieces onto digital platform in order to release them after 17 years.

The musical journey of this concert DVD moves from the traditional to the original, making its way, at the same time, from city to town to village.
In Part I of the concert, DÜNYA and Mavi Dance present the traditional music and characters of the Istanbul shadow puppet theater Karagöz and Hacivat. The traditional selections represented in this section are performed with an ensemble that bears the city identity of Karagöz.
In Part II we move from city to town with a half composed, half improvised musical theatre piece based on a story about the famous folkloric character Nasreddin Hoca which includes themes and songs from the Bektaşi Sufi tradition.
In Part III the concert closes with the 60-piece PALS Children’s Chorus and DÜNYA performing an original composition by Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol about the foolish Keloğlan, the poor village ‘bald boy’. This composition combines a trio of Turkish traditional instruments with a Western piano trio. The folkloric characters in all three parts of the program are comic, but they also share strong connections to traditions of Turkish folk wisdom which at times overlap with both conventional religion and secular philosophy.
